Boost or Mute

July 16, 2015 – Some of the good and bad this week in pop culture.

boost Emmy nominations | Awards season is still months away but the Emmy’s have all things television down in its nominations revealed today to be awarded in September. Now that I watch TV more than I have before, the Emmys finally have my attention, especially when shows I’ve not only seen but enjoy get some recognition. Orange Is The New Black, Orphan Black, Mad Men, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt are just some of the shows with nominations this year.

mute 19 Kids and Counting | With molestation allegations facing Josh Duggar, one of the eldest Duggar children from the TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting, it was only a matter of time before TLC pulled the plug and muted this one. Finally.

boost Pluto | While not quite pop culture, the new photos of Pluto taken by NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft are captivating. Really, any high res photo from the perspective of anywhere in space is captivating. Also think about how this spacecraft flew by the moon one day after launch, while it took nine and a half years to fly by Pluto. Think about that.

mute One Direction children | When news broke that Louis Tomlinson from One Direction was going to be a father, the collective gasp was heard around the world. Gasps from fans whose dreams were shattered and sighs from everyone else knowing that this baby news just might outdo all the Royal babies, if only because of just how many different ways discussion of this topic can go. So many directions… (sorry, I had to!)

This is the image of Pluto taken by New Horizons spacecraft as it flew by on July 13, 2015 earth time.
