Boost or Mute

boost Adele-domination | As expected, Adele has pretty much dominated the last week with her new single Hello. It’s poised to enter the Hot 100 at #1 with record sales in the digital era, in the range of 1 million singles sold, give or take. Worldwide, that number is even higher where it’s already reached #1 in many countries. The video is at almost 175 million views since last week with an average of nearly 2 million views an hour since its release. 20 days to the album’s release.

boost Oh Canada! | In non-Adele chart news, the Hot 100 is even more Canadian-dominated than it was the last time I talked about it. This time, it’s The Weeknd, Drake, Justin Bieber, and Shawn Mendes occupying the Top 4. This is the first time Canadian artists have had the entire Top 4 ever. Even when Celine, Shania and Alanis were the biggest names in music. With Bieber’s new single expected to hit the Top 10 this week (albeit below Hello), it’s likely that 6 of the Top 10 will be songs by Canadians.

mute Showing to no-show | In other Bieber news, Justin stopped a show in Oslo, Norway this week after just one song just because. Something about him wiping water off the stage and fans in the front row wouldn’t stop reaching out to touch him. He got mad, said he wasn’t doing the show and walked off stage. Good reason to be sorry? Good apology not to accept.

boost Happy Halloween!
