Max Speak

Two older albums make their entry amongst the four new CDs to make the Top 10 Albums chart this week. At #4 is Weeping Tile, the band fronted by Sarah Harmer before she went solo. As mentioned in the past, the CDs chart is based on albums that I own so if I happened to buy an older release, it is considered "new" by chart standards. Tori Amos has her third appearance on this chart with her collection of songs from pre-2003 at #5.

A Top 10 songs chart entry isn't unheardof on The Max. Chantal Kreviazuk debuted in the Top 100 at #2 late last year. KT Tunstall debuted at #1 in late 2005 as well. Even a big jump into the Top 3 happens. Last week, David Usher moved 22-2 with The Music. However, for an artists' first hit to make the Top 3 in only their second week on is alittle more rare. The aforementioned KT Tunstall did it obviously and it's possible that she was the last one. This week, the Decemberists leap 46-3* with their debut single on The Max, O Valencia!

Our Lady Peace score their 9th Top 40 hit this week with Kiss On The Mouth from their CD A Decade. Their last single to chart was Will The Future Blame Us (#12) and their biggest hit remainds to be Somewhere Out There (#6) from 2002.

As mentioned last week, KT Tunstall had two songs in the Top 100 with over one year each collected spent on the chart. Another impressive mention must go out to the Dixie Chicks who have THREE songs that have accumulated 30+ weeks on the chart each. Their song Everybody Knows was certified Max-Platinum this week as it falls 67-73 in its 38th chart week. Further up, moving 57-61 is a former #1 Voice Inside My Head, which is the younger of the three at 32 weeks and finally, 53-57 is their biggest hit Not Ready To Make Nice, which is nearly the yearly total by clocking in 47 weeks so far. Also worth mentioning is the album's fourth single, and third to make it to #1, The Long Way Around, which is down 7-10 in its 14th week on the chart.
