Max Speak

This week is definately the week of the Decemberists. The band not only get both a gold album and gold single for The Crane Wife and O Valencia! respectively, but the latter this week moves 3-1* to become their first #1. They also get the Artist of the Month title for February. It's all in a day's work for the band, or, all in three-week's worth of work, which is all it took for them to go from being unnoticed to being the biggest group on The Max.

Timbaland moves into the Top 10 this week with Give It To Me (12-10*). The song features Nelly Furtado who already has a track in the Top 10 and all in all, is her twelveth appearance in the Top 10 portion of the chart. Justin Timberlake, on the other hand, has had two before this one as a solo artist and another one is on the way up as What Goes Around moves 15-13*. It is Timbaland's third counting his two last year as a featured artist but he has had more as a producer for Aaliyah and Bubba Sparxx.

The Arcade Fire are getting ready for one of the most anticipated new releases of the year when Neon Bible hits record stores in early March. The first official single from the album is Black Mirror and it storms in going from 55-39*. The band had two big hits in 2005-06 with Rebellion (Lies) and Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out) but it looks as if the new album and its singles will eclipse anything that Funeral has done. We'll see if the hype plays out.

The Dixie Chicks continue their saga of success as they earn yet another #1 title on The Max. Their double live CD Top Of The World Tour Live enters at #1 on the album chart, giving them their fourth #1 on that chart. Altogether, they have four #1 singles and four #1 albums. I wonder if they'd be willing to add to their tattoo collection with these? The CD is the first recorded live album to hit #1 since 2000 when Alanis Morissette's MTV Unplugged topped the chart. For concert live, you'd have to go back to 1998 when the original double disc Lilith Fair did it.
