Max Speak

Serena Ryder spends a third week at #1 as the rest of the Top 10 heats up just in time for summer. Chantal Kreviazuk is hanging at #2 for a third week as well as she eyes the top for what could become her 12th charttopper. Maroon 5 moves into the Top 3 with their fifth Top 3 hit in a row... of course it's been two years since they last had one when Must Get Out peaked at #3 in mid-2005.

Alanis Morissette makes a surprise move into the Top 40 with her mock cover of My Humps, a song originally a hit by the Black Eyed Peas just two years ago. Alanis' version leaked to YouTube last week and has been the talk of the internet world since then. The song becomes Alanis' 19th Top 40 hit, which puts ahead in the lead in the record for the artist with the most Top 40 hits.

This week, the record for the longest running song in the history of The Max chart is tied, which is surprising considering the Top 50 portion of the chart contains only two songs that are 20+ weeks, which provides logical evidence that the chart is moving faster and has a quicker turnover than ever before. However, that doesn't mean there aren't older tracks still in the overall Top 100. This week, 21 songs have been charting for 20+ weeks, eight of which are at 30+ and even three songs are at 40+ weeks. What's the record tying song? Black Horse And The Cherry Tree by KT Tunstall. She ties the record previously held by Jason Mraz since 2004 with You And I Both when that fell off after 74 weeks on. KT falls 91-92 in her 74th week.

Pink enters the Top 100 this week with a song that isn't new. In fact, it's far from new. The single had already hit #29 earlier this year and fell off in March only to return for a single week at #100 two weeks ago. This week, after dropping out again, U + Ur Hand jumps back in at #64 to become the week's highest chart entry. Why the sudden resurgence? Thank the Bimbo Jones remix, which could cause the song to re-enter the Top 40 is interest in the track ensues. Pink currently has three other songs charting in the Top 100 as well. Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely) is #53, Dear Mr. President is #28 and Nobody Knows is #14. Keep your eyes pealed for a re-release of Who Knows as well, which is getting a re-release in June which could result in a re-entry here as well, despite already making the Top 10 last year.
