Max Speak

After four weeks at #1, Serena Ryder falls out but is replaced by another female vocalist with her first Max hit, Brandi Carlile with The Story (4-1*). It's the year's eighth #1 single and the fifth by an artist with their first hit, which is certainly making 2007 the year of the new artist! Brandi's main competition right now is Maroon 5, whom she did jump over, and the Wreckers.

Speaking of Serena, she scores her second Top 10 single this week with Good Morning Sunshine (11-9*), which is surely enough to make up for her 1-3 drop for Weak In The Knees. Fall Out Boy also get another Top 10 with Thnks Fr Th Mmrs, their third and second from the album Infinity On High.

And speaking of Brandi, like Serena last month, Brandi is #1 on both the singles and albums chart this week. Brandi's album with the same name as her single The Story is the year's tenth charttopper on the albums chart but with three weeks at #1, is the longest running on top in 2007. Brandi's CD also gets a Gold certification this week.

Two songs re-enter the Top 40 this week among the total of five entries. One is from Sophie-Ellis Bextor, who peaked at #40 for a week earlier this month. This week, Catch You moves back up 41-38*. The other comes from Pink, who has been having a great year so far by having three songs make the Top 40. U + Ur Hand previously hit #29 late last year and with the resergance of popularity for the song stateside, and thanks to the Bimbo Jones remix, the hit gets new life as it moves 43-39, with the potential to pass its previous peak. Pink's CD I'm Not Dead also goes Platinum this week, thanks to her current singles.
