Max Speak

The major news of the week goes to Tegan and Sara who have both the #1 album and the #1 single of the week, both under the title of The Con. Lately, it hasn't been uncommon for an artist to top both charts simultaneously, as we've seen with Serena Ryder and Brandi Carlile recently, however, with the case of Tegan and Sara and Brandi, the album and single in question had the same title, which is probably a more slightly rare feat. The Con, the album, debuts at #1 to become the duo's second #1 album in a row following their 2004 release So Jealous, which spent nine weeks on top and has gone on to become one of the biggest albums so far in the 2000s with an estimated point total equaling that of 6 times Platinum under the Max certification system. With the release of their new album and their current, and first, #1 single, that more than qualifies Tegan and Sara as the Artist of the Month for August 2007.
