David Usher earns his fourth #1 single on The Max Chart this week as Some People Say moves 3-1*. The track comes from his CD Strange Birds and is his first #1 in over three years since Surfacing hit the top in early 2004. His second solo CD gave him two chart topping singles with Alone In The Universe and A Day In The Life. Altogether, David has had twelve Top 10 hits, including the two which currently reside in the Top 10. So Far Down is currently holding at #5.
Regina Spektor had a #1 smash earlier this year with Fidelity and while it looked like she might not re-create that success at all with Samson peaking at #9, she enters both the Top 10 and Top 40 this week with two songs. Better jumps 12-8* to become her third Top 10 in a row while On The Radio moves 43-38*. With those two songs and the aforementioned Samson (22-21), Regina has three songs inside the Top 40 and her CD Begin To Hope is #7 on the album chart where it has maintained over the last few months after quickly falling out of the Top 10 soon after it debuted at #4.
It's a fairly slow chart this week with Kanye West having the biggest rise within the Top 40 with Stronger (23-17) and Melissa Etheridge jumping 30-23 with Message To Myself. Underneath the chart however, there are some slightly larger jumps upwards including Rihanna's Hate That I Love You (61-49), Silverchair with Straight Lines (97-81) and the week's biggest jumper, Big Casino from Jimmy Eat World which moves 89-67.
