Wind It Up

I'm waiting for some sort of hook but after about two minutes, there's nothing. I love Gwen but this song really disappoints me. The music is barely there throughout most of the song. There's no consistant beat and Gwen's signature style is nonexistant. This song doesn't really have anything going for it. It's completely unmemorable except for the yodels but they don't do anything positive for the song. Send it back. F10/24/06

The Sweet Escapefeaturing Akon

I'll admit that the intro to this song reminds me a bit of Gnarls Barkley, probably because of the sound the guitar gives. Aside from that, the comparisons end. I'll start off by saying that right away, this track is miles better than the mess that was Wind It Up. Gwen gets points for that right away, but then again, how could anyone not? Nextly, this song has a sweet chorus. It's not really anything special and for the most part, doesn't really fulfill any desire I have to hear new Gwen as it's not any better than most of the singles from LAMB but if Gwen HAS to be out now, this song is as good as any. It's a pleasant listen and not too overwelming in any sense. B01/15/07

4 In The Morning

Sometimes I'll hear a new song and for whatever reason, it will remind me of a specific time in the past. The new Gwen single reminds me specifically of music in 1996. Parts of the bridge almost remind me, VERY vaguely of her days in the Tragic Kingdom but otherwise, this song brings me back to summer 1996 pop music. Nothing specific has come to me just yet as to what this reminds me of but I'm sure it'll come. I don't think this song can compare to most of the Love Angel Music Baby record but as far as the singles from The Sweet Escape goes, this is in front.B5/13/07

history

Gwen Stafeni's chart history began with No Doubt and their breakthrough CD Tragic Kingdom. When The Max started in 1998, their hits mostly came from Return Of Saturn and Rock Steady but at that point, Gwen had been participating as a solo artist in Top 10 hits already. Her first solo CD came with three big Top 10 hits and put her on the path to superstardom with already nearly a dozen charting songs.
