Angelremix
Even though The Max Chart was probably the first chart to have Angel on in 1998 months before it was even released, doesn't really make the song better today. It's a beautiful song when it's in it's original form but I don't think a dance remix works for it. Especially with this remix, it just sounds like a bunch of beats put together over the original version of the song. Parts of the song have a beat while another part doesn't have anything. It sounds like listening to an AC station crossed frequencies with a Dance station. D10/20/01
Fallen
Six years after the release of Surfacing, Sarah finally has a followup album and its first single is a song that, whether it's great or not, deserves an A+ just because it's Sarah and we've missed her so much. But luckily for the song, it is great. It's a song of vulnerability as she sings about how she's "sunk so low" and that she's "messed up". She knows exactly where she stands and doesn't want anyone to rub it in. I love how this song is sung from the point of view of someone being lonely but it's not a depressing song. We know, from how Sarah sings it, that there is a future despite whatever it is that was messed up. It's almost an uplifting track. A9/13/03
Sarah McLachlan released her first album in 1988. She's been recording since the late 80s! Her career peak was in 1998 during the heights of her Surfacing CD and the Lilith Fair festivities, which she arranged and brought to many cities in North America helping to bring female singer/songwrities to larger audience. Despite having over half a decade between each of her last three albums, Sarah is able to keep coming back new music that is equally good to the album before and with each studio release seemingly having two or three spinoffs each, there's no doubt she'll be able to keep her music around for quite a long time.
