In October, I implemented a certification system for songs and albums based on the number of plays on my then-new iPod. I tried to make use of well-rounded numbers that would represent what I listened to. Gold songs obviously mean that I like the song. Platinum songs get twice the amount of plays that a gold song would and thus would be more difficult to achieve since I tend to not play songs on a continuous basis. I think this list represents well how often I listen to these songs and albums. It appears that getting a Gold certification, however, is fairly easy and that any song that makes the Top 10 on the Max chart will almost be gauranteed to receive one at some point. A gold album is alittle more difficult to get unless it has a strong supporting often-played song from it or is a semi-regular played CD. I think the list speaks for itself in terms of how often I play the tracks and how "big" the songs and albums are for me.
In February, I updated the criteria to reflect my increase of listening time with all of the numbers double what they originally were. All previously certified songs will keep their certification. Everything certified before February 2007 is based on the old system with consists of numbers half of what they are now.
In April, I did some "back-certifying" in which I estimated what older CDs would have gotten in terms of play and gave a certification level to them. Those ones won't listed here but individual artist pages will have those numbers next to the album titles instead of the numbers listed here.

Only albums that I own whether an actual CD-copy or a purchased digital copy are eligable and only if the entire album is on my iPod. Any track listed with the same album title are counted toward the total, which may include additional radio remixes or bonus tracks.
